I do interview potential adoptive parents and check references before making a final decision to allow one of my precious Little Gems to be adopted. I consider puppy adoption to be a commitment for the lifetime of the puppy, and it's important that my babies are adopted by folks who share that perspective.
Your puppy will be your companion for many years. Invest now in a well-bred, healthy puppy from a premier breeder to avoid unnecessary vet expenses and heartbreak in the future.

Once we agree that adopting a Southern Gems Shih-tzu is the right thing for you and the puppy, you can choose a currently available puppy or get on our waiting list for a puppy from a future litter.
Waiting List and Deposits
I require a $250 deposit to be placed on my waiting list and a $500 deposit to hold a specific puppy.
We just don't think it's good manners to keep your money if you are not able to follow through with the adoption. However, please be considerate of others on our waiting list, and do not place a puppy on hold unless you fully intend to follow through with the adoption.

Deposits are refunded in FULL if you decide not to adopt a puppy, or if we decide that the adoption is not in the puppy's best interest.

We offer a 5% discount for folks paying with cash, and a 20% discount for active duty military families and families who have previously adopted a Southern Gems Shih-tzu. We also offer a 20% discount off the second puppy for folks who are adopting two Southern Gems puppies at the same time. We LOVE it when our babies are placed together!
Picking Up Your Puppy
You may pick your puppy up from our home in the Charlotte NC area, we will meet you at our local airport, or, for the same cost many breeders charge for shipping, we will HAND DELIVER your baby to the major airport convenient to your home.

order to ensure that your Southern Gems puppy gets off to the best
start possible and based on the recommendation of the American Shih-tzu Club, we generally keep our puppies here until 12 weeks of age.

We provide a Five Year Written Health Guarantee on every Southern Gems Shih-tzu COMPLETE PUPPY. We stand behind the health of every Southern Gems puppy because our shih-tzu are hand selected from Champion and tiny lines after careful pedigree research, and our shih-tzu are bred only after they have completed our veterinarian's recommended testing.

ALL Southern Gems Shih-tzu COMPLETE PUPPIES will be adopted on
limited AKC registration with a Spay/Neuter Contract OR on a co-ownership contract into a proven show home.
Pricing
Each Southern Gems puppy is priced at 4 weeks of age according to its conformation to the AKC standard as
well as its color, gender, and expected adult size. Our adoption prices range from $800 to $2500 and include the COMPLETE PUPPY PACKAGE.
Our prices reflect the exceptional quality and care that goes into raising premier puppies. We produce only a few litters each year, and we do not consider this a money-making endeavor. We show and breed shih-tzu simply because we ADORE these little angels, desire to make the breed even better, and want others to be blessed by owning one!
